Dr. John to be Inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame

One of New Orleans' favorite sons Malcolm John "Mac" Rebennack Jr. (that's Dr. John to almost everyone but his Mama) will probably be anything but "blue" when he rolls on into the Hall on May 9th.

The Dr. has one of the best voices to come out of the delta area and he has the Southern charm to go along with it. Look up "entertainer" in that ancient thing called a dictionary and you'll probably see his face.

I was first introduced to Dr. John by watching him tear up on "Such a Night" on The Band's concert film The Last Waltz

Career highlight = the album Gris Gris (1968)

Also getting the nod from the Blues Hall - Dave Bartholomew and the late music-makers Eddie "Guitar Slim" Jones and Sister Rosetta Tharpe. Non performers are Art Rupe & Ahmet Ertegun (they better be throwing one hell of a rockin' party in the sky for this guy!)
