Hello Tokyo @ Crash Mansion 4/18

Brooklyn's Hello Tokyo took over Crash Mansion to celebrate the release of their debut LP Sell The Stars.

The power pop band sold their high energy tunes to a large buzzing crowd.

Lead singer Kat knows her way around a pop vocal and can slink around a stage like the best of them.

Add in some solid riffs, a few killer hooks and you have everything you need to make Hello Tokyo your new favorite band.

Today is Record Store Day!

It's a gorgeous Saturday in NYC so PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE get out and support Record Store Day!

You can get the whole scoop at recordstoreday.com but basically it's a day to celebrate getting out to the store and buying music the old fashioned way so that we don't loose the Mom and Pop stores that actually care about music.

Do we want to be left with nothing but Best Buy? (Ewwwww, right!)

So, take the day and get out with your friends and join some artists in supporting your local record retailer - you know that favorite spot where you can get lost for a couple of hours sorting through the stacks looking for some rare b-sides or live albums.

Regina Spektor is going to be hitting up Sound Fix in Brooklyn and a host of artists including members of Grizzly Bear and Tapes "n Tapes will be DJing the day away at Other Music in Manhattan.

See you there!!

R.I.P. - Danny Federici of the E Street Band

Sad news today . . .

Danny Federici, the longtime keyboard player for Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band passed away Thursday at age 58. He had battled melanoma for the past three years.

New Jersey native Federici first met Springsteen in the late 1960s and they played in several bands together before joining forces in the mega-selling rock 'n' roll group Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band.

"Phantom Dan", as he was often called by The Boss, will be remembered for many musical moments including the organ solo on the song "Hungry Heart" and the coda on "You're Missing" from the album The Rising.

You can read more at brucespringsteen.net.
