The Plug Awards - Celebrate Your Favorite "Indie"
I'll ruin it right away - you really love Stephen Malkmus and Band of Horses. The indie world's McDreamy (Malkmus) and McDonalds (Horses) won big but, being that this was the Plug Awards (a "fake awards" according to host David Cross), there were no physical plague thingys to hand out and bless their hearts no speeches to listen to.
Some SNLish skits were and stunts were in order though:
good: Cross dissing on "Inside the Actors" host James Lipton by putting on a fake beard and turning into "Jimmy J" Lipton and chatting up Malkmus.
bad: iPod battles lets you get your rage out by trading tracks. Supposedly, it's all the rage in France=nuff said.
They did have some sweet tunes though thanks to lively performances by Tokyo Police Club, Deerhoof, Silversun Pickups (kid next to me - "Oh, my god! I took the ferry to see them".) and Stephen Malkmus.

Arresting! - The Police Open the Grammys
Yes, believe it or not . . . they did it! 80s icons (and soon to be 2007 tourers) The Police opened the 2007 Grammy Awards by rocking their way through "Roxanne".
Tomorrow. the trio will be holding a press conference/rehearsal at Whisky A-Go-Go to "make an announcement". In other words, these guys are going to be taking a big bite out of your summer concert-going budget. Except it and move on - you know you'll be buying tickets!
I will.
